Sean begins the class with a short talk about the spirit of yoga—oneness
and love—including quotes on unity by Ghandi, Meister Eckhart and Rumi.
He then leads a heart-opening chant — an original version of Lokah
Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu, “May all beings everywhere be happy and free.”
With the intention of nurturing love and unity in your life and the world, you
will be guided into a creative, prayerful, challenging mandala of poses
including standing poses, sitting poses, arm balances, balance poses,
backbends and hip-openers. Poses include triangle, side angle, warrior two
and three, half-moon, straddle, boat, squat, dancer, standing sage, half-seated
twist, camel, wheel, tabletop and pigeon, with lots of vinyasas in between.
At the end of class, float serenely in an ocean of oneness in savasana followed
by a gentle reprise of the opening Rumi poem and chant. This inspiring class
will leave you feeling super relaxed, at peace, and brilliantly alive. One love!
Work towards deep expressions of kneeling backbends with a partner if
available or solo. Also we work on building towards standing up from
upward bow pose (Urhdva Danurasana). Includes handstands, shoulder
stands and lotus.

Sean begins this class by telling an abbreviated version of the great Indian epic The Ramayana, paying particular attention to a hero from this story- the great monkey and 'servant of the heart' Hanuman, whose heroic feat is an incredible leap of faith. Sean explains how this story, and particularly Hanuman's leap, reflects our own spiritual journey and can inspire and bring more life to our yoga practice. With this story in our hearts, a dynamic practice begins. You'll be invited to jump playfully on your mat, like Hanuman, making some leaps of faith. You'll be led through a juicy series of standing salutations, hip openers, arm balances, and then an extended series of progressively deeper backbends to flood your heart with aliveness. Poses include downward dog, three-legged dog, lunges, warriors one and two, shoulder stretches, squat, crow, boat, cobra, bow, upward dog, camel, bridge, wheel, plow, shoulderstand, fish, and more. The class finishes with a series of delicious pranayama (deep breathing) practices to flood your being in peace; a powerful guided chant "Ram," accompanied by Sean's harmonium that awakens tremendous energy in the heart; and a guided relaxation and meditation period to soothe your soul. (Coming soon-- Leaps of Faith!-- Part II-- where Sean will share more fun leaping transitions.)
This class is all about making space in the body and the mind - clearing out
clutter and allowing for deeper expressions of the asanas without excessive
effort. The class includes variations on hip openers and work up to inverted
lotus.
The class begins with a dharma talk about the power of yoga and meditation
as a vehicle for brightening our sensitivity to life. Open with a short kirtan
chant for removing numbness – ‘Om Gum Ganapataye Namaha’. A fun
vinyasa series invites you to generously fold forward, bend back, twist, roll,
jump, and root yourself into greater freedom and aliveness. At the end of
the class, Seán coaxes you into the depths of relaxation with a guided meditation.
